Dornoch

Dornoch Cathedral at sunset.

Dornoch is an ancient royal burgh which, although by-passed by the A9, is all the more reason for leaving the A9.
Dornoch Cathedral stands right in the centre of Dornoch. This 13th century castle is where Madonna’s son was christened in 2000; Skibo Castle, where Madonna married Guy Ritchie, is also close to Dornoch. Inside Dornoch Cathedral, the organ occupied a prominent position, so too does the carved pulpit. Take a look at the beautiful woodwork and stained glass windows.
There are a number of other pleasant buildings around Dornoch which are well worth looking at. Among these are the Council Offices, and buildings on the High Street and Castle Street. The world famous championship golf course at Royal Dornoch Golf Club lies between Dornoch itself and the sea, which is reported to be in the top dozen golf courses in the world.
